About the Role

Collections Administrator

We are looking for a highly organised Collections Administrator to support the daily planning and delivery of our waste collection services.

This is a busy operational role involving route planning, driver communication, customer support and real-time problem-solving. You will help keep vehicles moving, collections on schedule and customers informed when plans change.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Collections Administrator, you will:

  • Plan, assign and adjust daily collection routes
  • Schedule regular, ad hoc and special customer collections
  • Monitor vehicles and route progress using GPS and tracking systems
  • Maintain regular communication with drivers throughout the day
  • Provide drivers with clear collection instructions and site information
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns, delays, missed collections and road closures
  • Keep customers updated on service changes or delays
  • Resolve collection queries and complaints with the operational team
  • Coordinate vehicle availability, repairs and planned maintenance
  • Monitor vehicle capacity and ensure loads remain within permitted limits
  • Liaise with transfer stations, recycling centres and disposal facilities
  • Maintain accurate records for reporting, invoicing and compliance
  • Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Sales and Customer Service
  • Support drivers with in-cab technology, navigation and reporting systems
  • Report accidents, incidents and safety concerns promptly

About You

This Collections Administrator role would suit someone who can stay calm, organised and decisive in a fast-moving environment.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience in transport, logistics, waste management or a similar operational role
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Confidence communicating with drivers, customers and operational teams
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to adjust plans quickly
  • Experience using dispatch, route-planning or GPS tracking systems
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
  • A practical understanding of transport safety and compliance
  • Confidence managing competing priorities throughout the day
  • A positive and professional approach to customer service
