Working pattern: Typically Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend or bank holiday cover

About the Role

Food Surplus Management is seeking an experienced Transport Coordinator to help manage our nationwide food-surplus collection operation.

Working closely with the Transport Manager, the Transport Coordinator will plan scheduled collections, deliveries and transport routes, ensuring customers receive a reliable and efficient service. You will also maintain transport records, support operational reporting and communicate regularly with drivers, customers and colleagues across the business.

This is a busy role requiring strong organisation, clear communication and the ability to solve problems quickly.

What You’ll Be Doing

As Transport Coordinator, you will:

  • Plan and coordinate transport routes across specific customer groups or geographical areas
  • Ensure scheduled and manifested collections are completed within agreed timeframes
  • Communicate clearly with drivers, customers and internal departments
  • Respond to operational changes and resolve collection or delivery issues
  • Maintain accurate customer records and transport documentation
  • Produce monthly transport reports for the Accounts team
  • Deliver a high standard of customer service
  • Identify opportunities to improve routes, processes and fleet efficiency
  • Support the Transport Manager with the continued development of transport operations

What We’re Looking For

You will ideally have:

  • At least three years’ experience in a transport coordination or planning role
  • A working knowledge of relevant transport regulations
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good computer literacy and confidence using transport or planning software
  • A positive, flexible and team-focused approach
  • The ability to use your initiative and work effectively under pressure
  • A qualification in logistics, transport management or a related discipline would be advantageous
  • A Transport Manager CPC would be beneficial but is not essential
