About the Role

Legal Executive – In-House Legal Department

Location: Dublin
Experience: 5+ Years
Employment Type: Full-Time

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Legal Executive to join the in-house Legal Department of a large multinational company.

The successful candidate will work directly with an in-house solicitor and will play a key role in the day-to-day management of a busy litigation caseload, primarily involving personal injury defence litigation together with general commercial and defence litigation.

This is a hands-on role offering significant exposure to litigation and the opportunity to work closely with solicitors, barristers, insurers, medical experts, engineers and senior stakeholders across the business.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the management and progression of a busy personal injury and general defence litigation caseload.
  • Preparation of court and trial documentation, including pleadings, hearing booklets, briefs for counsel and supporting documentation.
  • Managing litigation diaries and tracking court dates, procedural deadlines, motions, consultations and hearings.
  • Arranging medical examinations, engineer inspections, site inspections and other expert appointments.
  • Liaising with external solicitors, barristers, medical experts, engineers, insurers and witnesses.
  • Attending court with the in-house solicitor from time to time as required.
  • Assisting with discovery, including the collection, review and organisation of relevant company records and documentation.
  • Obtaining witness statements, accident documentation, CCTV, records and other evidence from internal departments.
  • Drafting and preparing routine legal correspondence.
  • Managing and maintaining electronic and hard-copy litigation files, including file opening, closing and archiving.
  • Raising Purchase Orders and managing the administration of external solicitor, counsel and expert invoices.
  • Diary management and scheduling meetings, consultations and conferences.
  • Administration of incoming and outgoing legal correspondence and post.
  • Providing general legal and administrative support to the in-house solicitor and wider Legal Department.

Suitable candidates will have:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience as a Legal Executive, Legal PA or Legal Secretary, ideally within a litigation environment.
  • Strong experience in personal injury, commercial or defence litigation.
  • Experience preparing court documents and a good working knowledge of the Irish courts system.
  • Experience with Circuit Court and High Court litigation would be particularly advantageous.
  • Strong organisational and diary-management skills with the ability to monitor multiple court deadlines.
  • Excellent drafting, communication and attention to detail.
  • The ability to manage a busy workload and progress matters independently.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • A professional and confident approach when dealing with counsel, external solicitors, experts, insurers and internal stakeholders.
  • Access to a car is recommended, as the role may occasionally involve attendance at court, company sites, inspections or other off-site appointments.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to move into a varied in-house role within a large multinational organisation and gain direct exposure to the management of significant litigation from initial notification through to resolution.

The role offers a high level of responsibility and autonomy while working directly alongside an experienced in-house solicitor.

Benefits include:

  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • On-site parking.
  • eFlow toll tag.
  • Company events and social activities.
  • Exposure to a broad and varied in-house litigation caseload.
  • Opportunity to gain significant hands-on experience in personal injury and defence litigation within a large multinational organisation.

If you are an experienced Legal Executive looking to move in-house and want a role where you will be actively involved in litigation rather than simply providing administrative support, we would be delighted to hear from you.
