General Operative

As a General Operative at Panda, you’ll play an important part in keeping our collection and site operations running safely, efficiently and professionally. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be working outdoors, supporting collection crews, helping with the movement of bins and materials, and making sure our customers receive a reliable service.

This General Operative role would suit someone who is physically fit, dependable and happy working as part of a busy operational team. You don’t need previous waste industry experience, as full training will be provided, but you will need a strong work ethic, a good attitude and the ability to work safely.

What you’ll be doing

• Collecting and returning customers’ bins along designated routes.
• Supporting early morning collections, with early starts and early finishes.
• Loading and unloading lorries safely and efficiently.
• Moving and stacking materials in line with safe storage and handling practices.
• Working outdoors as part of a busy, team-focused operation.
• Carrying out general housekeeping duties to keep work areas safe, clean and organised.
• Inspecting equipment and reporting any faults, damage or wear and tear.
• Learning to use loaders, material handlers and other site equipment where required.
• Following health, safety and operational procedures at all times.
• Representing Panda in a professional, reliable and friendly manner.
• Working on your own initiative when needed, without constant supervision.
• Supporting the wider team with general operative duties as required.

About you

• Physically fit and comfortable working in a manual, outdoor role.
• Previous manual labour, warehouse, yard, logistics, loading or similar experience would be helpful.
• Reliable, trustworthy and willing to work as part of a team.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Good communication skills and a good standard of English.
• Able to follow instructions and work safely.
• Comfortable working in a practical, fast-moving operational environment.
• Must have your own transport.
• Full training will be provided.
